Monaco Football Club has been hit with another setback as midfielder Wilfried Siko is set to be out for up to six weeks with a knee injury.
The 24-year-old Frenchman was forced off during the second half of Monaco's Ligue 1 match against Lyon on Sunday, and his absence will be a major blow to the team's midfield.
Siko had made a promising start to his season, featuring in all three of Monaco's opening matches of the campaign, but he suffered a knee injury in their first defeat of the season at home to Rennes.
The news comes just days after it was announced that star striker Kylian Mbappe would be out for up to four months due to a cruciate ligament injury.
It's not yet clear when Siko will return to training, but the club has already said that they will do everything possible to get him back on the pitch as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Monaco will now have to rely on their other midfielders such as Nabil Bentaleb and Amine Harit,Campeonato Brasileiro Glamour who have both featured heavily this season.
The loss of Siko could also have an impact on the team's chances of winning the Ligue 1 title, which they currently lead by two points from PSG.
Despite the setback, Monaco fans can take comfort in the fact that their team is still capable of competing at the highest level, even without one of their key players.
With the likes of Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakay also unavailable through injury, there is plenty of depth in the squad.
However, the team will need to make do without Siko for the time being if they want to keep up their push for the title.
